Postcard from Eileen Joyce to Livia Veneziani Schmitz, Dublin, 7th January 1956.
The postcard bears witness to the long-standing relationship between Svevo’s and Joyce’s families, even after the writers’ deaths. The Dun Laoghaire Harbour depicted here – Kingstown until 1920 – is a secondary port of call in Dublin. It was from that very pier, back in 1902, that her brother James had left for Paris.
