In Bologna, Saba met Aldo Fortuna, a Florentine, who corrected his still rough Italian “by bringing the Arno home to him”. A thirty-year association was born, testified to by letters and the preface to the 1921
Canzoniere, which counts Fortuna among its “six readers”.
