Letter from Umberto Saba to Dionisio Romanellis, Bologna, 22nd October 1912
In this letter – written on the letterhead of the daily newspaper “Il Resto del Carlino” for which he published various prose in that period – Saba recalls the “pleasure” of chatting at the “Caffè del Municipio”. Romanellis, the only frequent visitor to the group who did not leave a literary legacy, was said to be “so at home in that singular ‘Triestine romanticism’ that passes from Silvio Benco to all our café acquaintances”.
