Letter from James Joyce to Italo Svevo, Paris, 5 January 1921: “As I urgently need these notes for the completion of my literary work entitled Ulysses or Sua Mare Grega, I kindly ask you, my most esteemed colleague, to let me know if any of your family are planning to travel to Paris in the near future, in which case I would be most grateful if the person mentioned above would have the exquisiteness to bring me the map overleaf”.The second part of this witty missive is written in the Triestine dialect.
